 A non-firing M1 Carbine stage prop sold by Packrat Toyz for $150.  The real M1 Carbine was designed during the leadup to WWII when it became clear that full sized .30-06 battle rifles (namely the M1 Garand) were unnecessarily cumbersome for infantry assigned to behind-the-lines duties, such as medics or engineers, as well as armored infantry (who couldn't fit them in their tanks).  The Gallian-1 in Valkyria Chronicles is used by Scouts, Engineers, and Tank Commander. The M1 Carbine is a near perfect stand in for the Gallian-1; the only significant difference is that the wood stock does not extend the full length of the barrel, and the magazine is larger like that on the Gallian-3.
